"Don't like it, Don't do it"

"Don't like abortion, don't have one!" says an avid pro-choicer. I hear this all the time, and you know what? It makes absolutely no sense. Think about it for a bit:

By telling me "don't like it, don't do it", you assume that I am the only person that matters to myself, and that I shouldn't care about what happens to other people. You're saying I have no right to defend my unborn brothers and sisters who are being aborted. You're saying I have no right to defend mothers who are being lied to. You're saying I have no right to defend fathers who cannot stop the death of their children. Does that make sense?

Say I lived before the civil war in the southern area of the United States. My neighbors owned slaves, and I couldn't stand people being treated as if they were not human. I believed that slavery was wrong. Well, "don't like it, don't do it", right? I'm not the one hurting people!

Now say I lived during the holocaust in the middle of Europe. The Nazi's captured and killed Jews (and other "undesirable" people), and I couldn't stand the thought of people being treated as if they were not human. I believed killing people was wrong. Well, "don't like it, don't do it", huh? I'm not the one killing people!

Fast forward to modern time. I live in America. Abortionists abort around 4,000 babies every single day, and I can't stand people being treated as if they were not human. I believe aborting babies is wrong. Well, "don't like it, don't do it" right? I'm not the one aborting babies!

So since I'm not the one doing bad things, it makes it okay for other people to do it, right? Wrong. Just because I'm not the one committing the injustice does not mean the victims of injustice are any less deserving of their freedom and dignity as human beings.

How did slavery end? How did the holocaust end? People got sick of their brothers and sisters being treated like dirt, and decided to end the injustice. That is precisely what I strive to do in the pro-life movement, and what all of us are called to do to some degree.

How dare we look at the victim of an injustice and say "You do not deserve to do be fought for."? How arrogant and self righteous that is! Does this man, an African slave, not deserve to be fought for simply because YOU were not the one to hurt him? Is that what "don't like it, don't do it" looks like? I couldn't even find a picture of a holocaust victim that was okay to put on this blog. Here, here, and here are links to a few of those pictures (but be warned, they are disturbing).

Take a good long look at those pictures. Don't they make you sick? How could people do that? If you lived back then, you surely would have stood up for a slave or holocaust victim, right? Well, by the blindingly brilliant logic of "don't like it, don't do it", NONE of these victims (slavery, holocaust, abortion) deserve to be fought for. Why? Because we're not the one hurting them. We're not the ones killing people, so why should we do anything about it?

I'll tell you why. It's rather simple, actually. We should stand up for victims of any injustice because we are human. We fought for our brothers and sisters to be freed from other injustices because they deserve their freedom and dignity as human persons. Are the victims of abortion any less worthy of our blood sweat, and tears just because we're not the ones having or performing abortions?

Dear Planned Parenthood - When Does Life Begin?

Earlier today I posted this picture on the Planned Parenthood's Facebook Page...

...and let's just say I don't plan on doing that again anytime soon. I've posted links and had conversations on their wall before, but this must have really hit a chord in people's hearts because it garnered a grand total of 403 comments in a couple hours. Wow.

I've heard the pro-choice rhetoric, the cuss words, the false accusations, the lies, the non-arguments, etc. But the people who were commenting on this were plain illogical. They started out saying that life begins at the picture in the top right corner, or the one after that: the first representing an unborn baby past the point of viability, and the second after birth. Then someone decided to point out that the picture on the top row second from the left looks like a shrimp (slightly creepy and twisted), and that they were now hungry for shrimp. Ew. Comparing an incredibly complex and beautiful human being to coconut and garlic shrimp is not cool. At all.

1. Our physical lives begin when our physical bodies begin to exist. That is the moment of fertilization: not when we're considered "viable" or after birth.

2. When I asked them to elaborate on this point, and when they thought life begins, I received this shining example of pro-"choice" logic:

"When something no longer needs to be attached to something else either with or without their consent in order to survive."

So, wait a second, we're not considered to be alive if we depend on something else to survive?!?! No way! 'Cause we sort of rely on a lot of things like food and water to survive.....This person even went on to say that life begins when we can breathe. I asked her if she believed a person on a ventilator qualified as being alive, and she said....wait for it....no. We're not alive if we're on a ventilator, because apparently we're only alive if we can breathe on our own. Huh? This takes the cake for most illogical statement of the day award! I've heard it many times before, but it is so illogical, I had to include it.

Some other gems of comments in response to "When Does Life Begin?":

"Life starts when I say so, B***h!" 

"When a woman chooses it's time for her to bring forth life."

"Technically a fetus isn't a person or citizen until it gets a birth certificate, so I would say after it is born." 

"The word "life" is a multi-meaning word, it means many different things to different people. Maybe you'd have better luck brainwashing...a sunday school class full of gullible six year olds."

"Life is a fuzzy concept."

Now maybe I'm being too simplistic, but life and death are black and white to me. Life is not a fuzzy concept when you have science and logic on your side. Maybe I'm being harsh, I don't know, but life is life, and death is death as far as I know. Abortion kills an innocent person, and that is wrong. Is that really too hard to understand?

After this part of the conversation, it moved on to people saying that "any woman who has an ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage is committing a murder, and should be tried for involuntary manslaughter." And this is where I just have to sigh and pray for these people. I tried explaining, but alas! These brains filled with pro-"choice" mantra were impervious to the facts of life. I will go more into this in a later post.

I am not "all-knowing", but I can tell you this: no matter what people tell me about abortion, and when life begins, it will not change the scientific fact that life begins at the moment of fertilization and that each and every life deserves a lifetime. I wish I could learn from these people what their stories are, and why they think how they do, but all I get are new cuss words.

This is one reason why I read the book "UnPlanned" by Abby Johnson, and why I go on abortion blogs and Facebook pages every so often: I believe we have to understand the opposing side in order to defeat them. We have to see exactly what Satan has infiltrated hearts with to see how we can then be a tool of Christ in turning those same hearts back to Him who created us. I sure didn't learn much from this post because all it was were empty pieces of rhetoric I've heard before. These "arguments" are getting rather old.

I pray for everyone involved in that comment thread, as there were some very troubled people who desperately need God's mercy and love. Please join me in praying for them, and never, ever stop standing up for what you believe in, no matter how much heat you get from the other side. You never know how God will use you. Metal is put through fire to make it strong. God puts us through tough times to solidify our beliefs, bring others to Him, and strengthen our resolve. Let us begin.

She Didn't Survive to Make You Comfortable

Gianna Jessen is an inspiration. She is an incredible woman who survived a saline abortion, and now lives for God, sharing her story with the world. No matter what your opinion is on abortion, you need to watch these videos. They're the best 15 minutes you'll spend today! She says way too many good things for me to talk about here, so I'll just quote one of my favorite parts:

"I know in the age that we live in, it is not at all politically correct to say the name of Jesus Christ in places like this. To bring Him into these sorts of meetings because His name can make people so terribly uncomfortable. But I didn't survive so I could make everyone comfortable. I survived so I could stir things up a bit. And I have a great time doing it."

The Battle Continues - Are You In?

On January 22, 1973 abortion became legal in our country. On that day each year, pro-lifers renew their passion for the movement, and dedicate another year to fighting the evil of abortion in our country (But not for long! Pretty soon we're going to use the day to celebrate the end of abortion!). Some people think we're crazy for fighting for this long...

"I cannot believe that it’s January 2012, almost 39 years to the day that the right to abortion was decided by the U.S. Supreme Court, and we’re still having a conversation about the access to and legality of female reproductive health services."

...But I don't think we're the crazy ones. If people had gotten tired of fighting to end slavery, would there still be slaves in America? Giving up is not an option for pro-lifers. Our fight will not end until the day when ALL life is protected, and abortion no longer slithers through our land like the evil snake it is.

The pro-life movement grows stronger each day with more youth getting involved, and more people becoming aware of the tragedy of abortion. We see this growth each year at the Walk for Life in San Francisco, CA, and the March for Life in Washington D.C.

Last year over 50,000 pro-life warriors marched in CA, and 300,000 in D.C. It's incredible how much these numbers have grown over the years! Pictures from the events show people as far as you can see - an ocean of people standing up for life.

Last year was my first time going to the Walk for Life, and it's a hard experience to describe. I was truly one in a sea of people (drop in the ocean, eh?). The energy was palpable as we walked for something we all believed in with our whole hearts. Have you ever experienced that before? It's at a moment like that when I know for certain that God is walking right next to us, urging us on. I am filled with hope, and moved to do more for life. I am at a loss for words when I try to describe this feeling of knowing that I am at the exact right place, at the exact right time, so I guess you'll have to experience it for yourself.

Come and join us in this battle for life. I can't say it's going to be easy, but hey, life isn't easy. Be courageous.

I'd say fighting for life is way more important than being afraid of how hard it will be. Fear is doubting your ability to succeed, but we cannot do anything but succeed with God on our side.

Don't Be a Party Crasher

In the event that truth is not on your side, it becomes necessary to use false non-arguments that miserably fail at backing up your opinion, in an attempt to justify what you know deep down is wrong. I don't know of anything that illustrates this better than the abortion debate.

10 Week-old Baby

Those who believe abortion is okay used to claim that "It's not really a baby", but that just doesn't fly anymore folks. Modern science is incredible, and has proven that life does indeed begin at the moment of conception. Don't believe me? Check out National Geographic's "The Biology of Prenatal Development". It includes real footage of unborn babies, and was not made by pro-lifers, making it totally unbiased scientific proof that life begins at conception.

Now that people can't deny that unborn babies are human, pro-abortion people have come up with a new point, and I quote a pro-abortion person: "The fetus has a right to life, it just doesn't have a right to use my body for survival without my permission."

Um, because babies are supposed to ask permission before being conceived, right? I mean, who are these babies to decide they can just barge right in to MY body, and use MY body for survival without MY permission?!?!?

If you agree with those last questions, first, I will somewhat question your sanity, and second, I've got a NEWSFLASH for you: Babies don't ask to be conceived. Babies don't target you to make your life harder, and babies do not ask your permission before residing in your uterus. [Last I checked, they never have, but maybe I was just the weird one who didn't ask my mother, who knows?].

More important than the fact that babies do not ask permission before being conceived is this: They don't need permission, because they were invited. I think we can all agree that babies do not spontaneously generate in random women. They are created. By the very act of creating a baby, you invite the baby to grow inside you for 9 months. Just like if you invite me to a party, you should not be surprised if I come, and stay for the duration of the party.

So, please, next time you discuss why a mother has bodily autonomy over her unborn child, consider the fact that babies don't create themselves. They're invited into your womb when they are created, so enjoy the celebration, and don't crash the party by kicking your guests out!

Activism: Literature Distribution

I recently joined Survivors for pro-life activism at SJSU. It went really well! We passed out literature from Human Live Alliance, and Advocate magazines from Live Action. This kind of activism is easy because all you have to do is hand out paper!!! Anyone can do it!

The great thing about passing out this literature is that you can do it for free, and there is no telling how many people's lives will be touched by that one piece of paper. I've heard about many people getting involved in the pro-life movement after being handed a piece of literature.

Before you go out, make sure to be prepared to answer questions people might ask you. Read through the material you're handing out so you know what people are getting. Be prepared to explain your point of view, and be ready to share the hope and love the pro-life position.

I highly recommend this literature, but realize that the content is not geared towards young children. It's aimed toward the high school and college crowd, but anyone can benefit from the AWESOME information.

Really, America?

In America, minors cannot legally...

• Get a fake tan
• Drink alcohol 
• Vote
• Buy a lottery ticket
• Rent a car, or
• Open a library card (in some areas)                                

...Without their parents consenting, or until they are 18. BUT any girl under 18 can get an abortion without her parents knowing. I could abort my parent's grandchild without them knowing, but they have to be there for me to open a library card. Huh?

America has an issue figuring out what's really important here. Should it REALLY be more important for a girls parents to help her open a library account, or for them to know about her bearing their grandchild and choosing to abort that baby? What are your thoughts on it?

Human Rights Day

If you didn't know already, Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in America, and has no problem with the murder of innocent babies. They also have no problem hiding abuse, and giving women false medical information. Don't believe me? Check out these undercover videos which show them doing just that.

Anyway, Planned Parenthood posted on their facebook page yesterday about "Human Rights Day". The page their post links to says:

"Human rights belong equally to each of us and bind us together as a global community"

Really?!?! 'Cause last I heard, Planned Parenthood still supports abortion. Did they suddenly have a change of heart? Well, I'm pretty sure they didn't change their mind, unless they were brainwashed by aliens. I haven't heard of any alien sightings recently, but I like the idea! I rest my case - they're just a little confused about human rights. If they really thought we all had equal human rights, then they would not be okay with killing babies.

"On Human Rights Day 2011, we pay tribute to all human rights defenders" 

Well, gee, thanks! I guess they must be paying tribute those involved in the pro-life movement, since we are the ones defending human rights. We defend the right of babies to be born, and the right of women to be told the truth about abortion. What rights does PP support? Hmmm, the "right" to kill your baby, and the "right" to live irresponsible lives that lead to abortion.

So, Happy Belated Human Rights Day from a person who believes we all have the right to live to everyone who really supports human rights - the right to be born and be given the truth. Carpe diem!

IPYC - Day 2

International Pro-Life Youth Conference
November 11 - 13, 2011

After a great kick-off on Friday, we started Saturday with more wonderful speakers, and the same energy that carried us through the first day of the conference.

Our first speaker on Saturday was Warwick Pascoe from New Zealand. A geologist by education, Mr. Pascoe spent years traveling the world marveling at rocks (as he put it), but then came to the conclusion that we are the greatest masterpieces of creation. Yes, we are even more amazing that Mr. David here, because under our incredible outer appearances is an incredibly designed network of bodily systems which keeps us alive! We are more beautiful and intricately designed than any rock or sunset.

His speech covered the beauty and magnificence of human development from conception until birth. We are all fearfully and wonderfully made, and "it doesn't matter where you come from," he said "we have our humanity in common."All you have to do is look at one cell of the human body, and you can't help but marvel at our lives. God is the ultimate artist, and we are His handiwork. Mr. Pascoe ended his speech with this quote: "The buildings are just buildings, the roads are just roads, but our people are irreplaceable."

Next we heard from a panel on Advocating life on your campus. Kristina Garza of Survivors encouraged us to "create our ripples", referencing Mother Teresa's quote: "I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water and create ripples." Joe Langfeld of Human Life Alliance said that activism will help solidify your beliefs. Rebecca Roughneen from Youth Defence , and Allison Aranda from Life Legal Defence Foundation  also spoke, and encouraged us to be where the people are at.

Jill Stanek talked about using new and social media as HUGE frontiers for the pro-life revolution. You should really check out her blog! She covers recent happenings in the pro-life arena, so make sure to check out her blog for yourself!

Walter Hoye from Issues4Life Foundation talked next about Abortion in Black America. The culture of death targets minorities, as shown by horrifying statistics Mr. Hoye shared with us. For example, about 3% of America's population (african american women of childbearing age) is responsible for at least 30% of abortions in our country. Why? Because the abortion industry targets them. "Time is out," Mr. Hoye said "We need you now. We cannot afford to wait another 38 years."

The panel show on the left: Tim Herrmann from C-FAM, Andy Moore from Pro-Life Planet, and Ide Nic Mhathuna from Youth Defence shared information with us about Advocating Life Internationally. Abortion is a global issue because it effects human everywhere. All of us have been effected by it. We've lost 1/3 of my generation: my friends, your friends, our brothers, sisters, cousins, grandchildren - The list goes on. Let us fight harder every day until the life of EVERY human being is protected from conception until natural death!

Troy Newman from Operation Rescue talked with us about the Gatekeepers of the Abortion Industry. Twenty years ago, there were about 2,176 abortion mills in America, and almost no Crisis Pregnancy Centers. Think that's changed? Yeah, it has!! Today there are about 657 abortion mills (A 70% DECREASE!!), and Crisis Pregnancy Centers outnumber them with a 4:1 ratio. We've come a long way, but the road continues...

Our next panel on Effective Tools for Successful Events was really informative. This is a post in and of itself, so look for that in the future :-)

Saturday ended with Bernadette Smyth as our last speaker. There is only one word that describes this "warrior for the babies" (and the whole conference), and that is: AWESOME. Bernadette was 'just' a regular young mom when she heard a pro-life speech about 13 or 14 years ago. Since then, she has taken on the pro-life movement in Northern Ireland, and started the organization Precious Life. Bernadette's story is inspirational. "When the Lord calls you, He equips you" she said. "We must rise up to protect these babies because they don't have anyone else." "We have to rise up because when we're silent, babies die."

"One day, history will look back and say: not only did they win the battles, they won the war." "Get your armor on, and run into battle" she said.

God tells us in Ephesians 6:11 -

Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

Are ready to stand up, equipped with the armor of God, and protect those who have no one else to speak for them? 

IPYC - Day 1

International Pro-Life Youth Conference 
November 11 - 13, 2011


I told you about how the conference started, so now I'll fill you in on the speakers. After rocking out to "Party Rock Anthem" and getting the crown cheering, we heard from our first speaker - Lila Rose from Live Action.

I love how Lila encourages us, as young people, to stand up for life. It doesn't matter how old we are, we can still make big differences. At IPYC, Lila pointed out that we're often called the "future" of the pro-life movement, but we're here to be the leaders TODAY. You bet! There is no need to wait till we're older or until someone gives us permission to be advocates for life. The time is now! We are sick to death of evil prevailing, and we are committed to ending the evil of abortion.

Leadership (especially in the pro-life movement) can be lonely. Lila can attest to that because her friends didn't always show up to meetings when she first started Live Action. She shared with us what her mom told her when she was discouraged by this lonliness: Leadership is lonely, but we have to forge the way and people will follow.

Next we heard from a panel (Bryan Kemper, Jill Stanek, and Lila Rose) on Using New Media to Advance the Pro-Life Message. They had some wonderful tips on how to effectively spread the pro-life message online. One point, that visual media speaks louder than just words, has certainly been shown time and time again in the pro-life movement. So true! Seeing pictures and videos "inspires us to action" because we see the truth, and it can't be denied. Looking at an aborted baby, we can't say "Oh, that's just a blob of tissue". Visual media forces us to face the truth about abortion.

Next we heard from Austin Ruse of C-FAM. He talked about his pro-life involvement with the UN. He said that "Abortion will not end until we change the public sentiment." It was really interesting, and definitely something I hadn't heard much about before!

Next was Eoghan De Faoite of Youth Defence. Can I just say that irish people rock?!?!?!? And not just because of their accents ;-) Ireland is one of the only countries that remains abortion free today, much to the credit of Youth Defence. They are an incredible group of motivated young people dedicated to educating, demonstrating, campaigning, communicating, and lobbying the pro-life message. They have successfully kept abortion out of Ireland for 20 years - and counting! This speech was great - I wish I could have written faster to record more quotes! I think we can learn a lot from what Youth Defence does, since they've obviously been successful.

Our last speaker of the night was Bryan Kemper of Stand True Ministries.  "Every day we lift our heads off our pillow," he said "is one we're not promised." Remember the story of the Good Samaritan? A terribly injured man was laying beside the road, and a Priest and Levite both passed him without lending a hand. Neither of them thought it was his business, so both left the man for someone else to take care of. The Samaritan passed by next, and even though he did not have to help the injured man, he did. This care for our fellow human beings is at the heart of the pro-life movement. We care about our brothers and sisters from the point of conception until natural death, and that's why we are fighting for their lives.

I challenge you to think about this: Are you more like the Priest and Levite, or are you more like the Good Samaritan?

Taking Sides

“I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”


This was the theme of the International Pro-Life Youth Conference, and how we kicked off the conference. Well actually, we started it by blasting "Party Rock Anthem", rocking out onstage, and getting the crown up cheering :-) Who says pro-lifers aren't fun?!?!?! 


This energy carried us through the weekend. The conference was a powerful, inspiring, and exciting experience for me. 


I knew before the weekend that I wanted to dedicate my life to this movement, but afterward I am confident that God is indeed calling me to be a voice for the voiceless, an advocate for life, and a warrior in the battle against evil. I believe that this is the most worthy cause to dedicate my life to, because no other injustice claims as many lives, or impacts our world like abortion does. Because of this horror, over 53,000,000 babies have been aborted since 1973, and around 4,000 are added to that number EVERY DAY. That means that about 1/3 of my generation is missing.


It is time to take sides. It is time rise up and END abortion.
